The concept behind this collection was to try and create a low labour intensive product with no stitching.
In the UK labour can be quite high compared to other manufacturing areas. For this project I want to try and create a product that had very little labour involved. I came to the conclusion that when leather is folded you can create some beautiful shapes.
I have now decided to make this collection a pre-order only to reduce waste so all products made are sold.
Sourcing the best quality natural vegetable tanned leathers.
Vegetable tanning or dying is a natural process that is more sustainable during the tanning process of the leather. This old traditional method uses berries, bark and other earth based natural ingredients to dye the leather.
Wooden toggles have history, as useful gadgets for hoisting flags and closing sturdy duffle coats, and now Mister Morton makes this trusty wooden fastening (with an option in brass) as the centrepiece of a multifunctional stacking and storing system for our most frequently used, everyday accessories.
Incorporated into a fine leather lanyard the wooden toggle provides a hanging point from which to attach a slim key sleeve, neat credit card holder, compact coin wallet and a nifty, earpod carrier…..leaving you bag free and hands-free to run, pedal a bike, push a shopping trolley, pushchair or lawnmower…but still have the things you need to hand.
Each detachable holder is made from fine, vegetable dyed leather and is manufactured in England by master craftsmen. All are available in a range of colours so you can have a matching set or vary the colours to make the contents more readily identifiable.
The slimline design allows the holders to be arranged in size so that they sit neatly one on top of the other, all securely clipped to the central wooden toggle. Yet they can be easily un clipped and removed, rearranged or edited as needed.
